Statement of Faith
Christian Judicial System is founded upon the belief that God is the ultimate source of truth, justice, mercy, reconciliation, and moral accountability. Our work is guided by Scripture, Christian faith, and the call to pursue peace, truth, repentance, forgiveness, restoration, and righteousness in human conflict.
Our Biblical Foundation
CJS seeks to serve in a manner consistent with biblical principles of justice, reconciliation, truthfulness, humility, forgiveness, and accountability. We believe that conflict should be addressed in a way that honors God, respects people, seeks truth, and encourages restoration where possible.
Core Beliefs
- We believe in one God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior.
- We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority for faith and conduct.
- We believe human beings are created in the image of God and should be treated with dignity.
- We believe sin damages relationships with God and others.
- We believe repentance, forgiveness, restitution, and reconciliation are central to Christian conflict resolution.
- We believe justice should be pursued with truth, mercy, humility, and integrity.
- We believe Christians are called to seek peace when possible without compromising truth or righteousness.
Faith and Dispute Resolution
CJS approaches conflict resolution from a Christian worldview. This means that our process is not only concerned with resolving practical disagreements, but also with encouraging truth, moral responsibility, restored relationships, and faithfulness to God.
Volunteers, Leaders, and Service
Because CJS is a Christian organization, board members, leaders, staff, volunteers, mediators, hearing participants serving in official roles, and ministry representatives may be asked to affirm the CJS Statement of Faith or otherwise agree to serve in a manner consistent with the mission and values of the organization.
Important Clarification
CJS welcomes inquiries from people seeking help with conflict, but CJS’s processes, services, leadership expectations, and organizational mission are grounded in Christian faith. Participation in any CJS process does not replace legal counsel, emergency services, civil court procedures, or pastoral care from a person’s own church.
